In a pure, clear voice tempered by whimsical humor, Kim Wallach sings and writes of the joys and woes of contemporary life. Her warm and engaging performances are highlighted by her subtle guitar accompaniment. Her songs guide listeners to other times and places, and a wry recognition of life's foibles
Kim’s musical roots go back to her activist parents’ household in New Jersey, and the folk revival of the ‘50s and ’60s. Through her college studies with poets Richard Wilbur and Robert Pinsky, and with the Scottish traditional singer Jean Redpath, she gained respect for the fine crafting of words and melody, and the enduring resonance of the old ballads.
In addition to her solo career, Kim Wallach performs and records as a member of the Short Sisters, with Kate Seeger and Fay Baird. The trio is known for intricate and powerful harmony singing.
Kim has performed throughout the U.S., and her songs are sung coast-to-coast. Her recordings include four solo efforts: The Coldest Winter in Living Memory, Paddle On The Rahway, I’m Keeping a Secret From You, and The House Between the Tracks (1993) and Where Does Love Come From (2001) as well as three children’s recordings and four Short Sisters albums.
Kim is available for school programs, festival workshops, and concerts. She is a certified music teacher in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She is also an instructor of “Teaching Music to Children” at Keene State College.
